Gettin’ Intuit

a mentoring academy for deep thinkers, overachievers, skeptics, and the mystically curious to explore their intuitive gifts, develop a grounded spiritual practice, celebrate their lives and impact, and recharge in community.

  • You are familiar with spiritual practices from yoga to tarot. Yet, the time or focus for your self-restoration gets redirected to relationships, home, kids, career and surviving the 10,000 paper cuts that is late-stage capitalism. Having live events and a mentor would encourage you to take time for you.

  • You listen to podcasts, read quantum leaping books, collect Reiki certifications, & take classes in crystal healing: Although you come out of each experience feeling ‘connected’ you find it difficult to sustain that joy or apply your spiritual epiphanies to muggle life. It would feel supportive and motivating to have a long term guide and frequent opportunities to pause and reflect.

  • Your bff, partner, and family doubt and criticize you for wanting to use an abundance spell, a channeled message, astrology, or oracle cards to help you make a big choice. Low key, you worry that exploring your mystical gifts might inadvertently summon a demon into your bedroom (and not in a good way). You’d be pumped if you could ask a friend or expert if they also felt like ‘something was off’ in your house.

This is your invitation to step beyond ‘clear your mind’ and cultivate your personal wisdom through monthly courses featuring the histories, origins, and practical applications for developing a modern spiritual practice and a life lived on purpose.

never again peak at the clock during meditation and see that only have 2 minutes have passed…

Enroll to cultivate wisdom, explore your gifts, and be part of a community who knows and supports you

“While I've always been a spiritual person, I had long lacked a real community to share that spirituality with. Emily's program gave me that and so much more. Emily's work as a guide and teacher helped me work through my own self doubts and become more comfortable with embracing my spiritual gifts.”

Adam- Cincinatti, OH

“I learned a lot about how to approach problems and what my current purpose was in this life. Meeting with Emily and the group has consistently validated spiritual feelings that I've had and has inspired me to continue on my own personal journey.” -Josh.”

Josh- Louisville, Ky

“Learning with Emily provided me with the knowledge and tools I needed in order to step into a part of myself that I knew I wanted to and had within me but didn't know how or where to start. It provided a community of real people that came from different backgrounds and views but who were all reaching towards the same understanding and that group became a trusted source of friendship and support. I have since been delighted to use my new skills when the situation arises and have been surprised what new spiritual opportunities that have opened up for me since.”

Gettin’ Intuit Values

Confidentiality is important

All though our lives are recorded none of the "personal shares"are recorded. All members are expected to respect the privacy of all other members.

You are encouraged to doubt

Your time is precious- Never again find your one free weekend wasted on a class, meditation meet up, or retreat where you bombarded with re-packaged evangelical messages like ‘everything is god’s plan’ or ‘women are meant to be sacred feminine and to receive/incubate passively’.  In GetinIntuit we focus on looking at the real histories and impact of modern spirituality in addition to the practices, we revel in our ability to ask hard questions and listen to diverse perspectives/answers, and prioritizing health and wellness in personal as well as community environments. It is possible to share in community where EVERYONE is able to ask questions, take care of themselves without being seen as ‘rude’, explore their own doubt, and make safe mistakes.

You are encouraged to have multiple teachers

This isn't a guru environment or a fragile scarcity mindset space where only the leader is allowed to be a pro. You are not only allowed to learn multiple places, you are encouraged to do so- and tell us all about what you learned during the shares.

We are committed to Non-Centralized Anti-Oppression Work

GettinIntuit and Emily Schuhmann are committed to doing the work of anti-racism and anti-oppression. As such, it is important to note that we are operating in a community and culture that are tied to ideas of white supremacy, empire/capitalsm, patriarchy and other toxic ways of being that often trickle into or are sometimes espoused by current spiritual practice & communities. The work of finding and shifting subconscious beliefs is ongoing and mistakes will continue to be made- we commit to valuing impact over intent and centering voices other than our own in discussions of what is right and healing. We openly solicit and validate concerns in the community or around the work the community is doing. As a facilitator Emily commits to doing the best she can to raise concerns about agency, oppression, and social activism in and around the GettinIntuit community and community practices. Therefore, participants are also asked to be open to education and healing around language, micro-aggressions, or any acts of suppression-oppression that may occur through ignorance. We commit to validating, listening to, and centering the growing diverse voices that comprise both the communities inside of and outside of GettinIntuit.

Harmful Dogmas have no place in our practices

Gettinintuit is non-denominational, non-dogmatic space. While we educate about diverse traditions and belief systems, we encourage the ethical and non-appropriative development of one’s personal spiritual practice outside of organized religious belief systems OR inside of them if one wishes to apply them one’s own cosmology or tradition. In other words, it is possible to be part of this community and to hold a particular set of beliefs but it is not ok to expect anyone else in the community to share your beliefs. Additionally members of the community are expected you to be open to modifying behaviors or ways of showing up in community if what they are sharing does direct or indirect harm to anyone in the community or perpetuates social harms in the wider wold. That’s a fancy way of saying, yes, Christians are welcome, yes, Witches are welcome, yes, Hindu’s are welcome, yes Neo-Tantric ‘goddess’ are welcome, yes, Men are welcome yes, yes- As long as you can be present and non-judgmental of other’s beliefs, you can learn, reflect, love, and thrive alongside us.

Dawn- Los Angeles, CA

“When I “found” this community, I was struggling with layers of disappointment and frustration, ultimately in myself. I hadn’t even realized how down on myself I was. The experiences I’ve gained working with Emily have given me a fresh perspective on my life and my story, and a whole arsenal of tools and practices to call upon in the next chapters of my life. Above all, I suppose, Emily has taught me and given me permission to keep reinventing myself and questioning perceived limitations. Her spirit, enthusiasm, and daring are infectious and inspiring. I am so deeply grateful for all she’s shown me so far, and I am excited to continue working with her in the future.”

Hey Curious Being:

I know exactly what it is like to struggle with meditation. As a goal oriented professor- teaching art and dance to thousands of students all over the world I struggled with stress, anxiety, endless self criticism, and relaxing enough to sleep….

I set out and explored a number of meditation types and communities:

✨ communities with dogmatic leaders where I felt like having a different view point prevented me from belonging,

✨ meditation types that were not healthy or grounded (or worse, were stolen from indigenous practices and passed off as ‘original’ to the community),

✨ and of course the spiritual practices that required super human flexibility or super human attention spans to complete.

What I was looking for was a pathway to myself and a safe as well as relaxing way to get there. It was a while before I started to recognize the integrative power of working with journeying, energy, self awareness, imagination, and of course questions of ‘spirit’ in the way we do in Gettin’ Intuit. I’d love to be part of you finding a more open way to explore your spiritual self and the big ‘questions’ you have about life and beyond.

We can learn more about each other in the community- and you can also check out more about me here.
